Crescent Roll Casserole

Ingredients
  

Dough
  • 2 can refrigerated crescent roll dough (8 ounce)
Filling
  • 1 pound ground beef or beef sausage
  • 1 package dry taco seasoning (1 ounce)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 package cream cheese softened (8 ounce)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Optional Toppings
  • chopped tomatoes, lettuce, olives, salsa

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. Brown ground beef or beef sausage in a skillet. Drain excess grease.
  3. Stir in taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. Mix cream cheese and sour cream until smooth.
  5. Unroll one can of crescent roll dough into a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  6. Spread the cream cheese mixture over the crescent roll dough.
  7. Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the cream cheese mixture.
  8. Spread the ground beef mixture over the cheese.
  9. Unroll the second can of crescent roll dough on top of the beef.
  10. Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of cheddar cheese over the top.
  11. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  12. Let cool slightly before cutting and serving. Top with desired toppings.

Notes

For a spicier kick, use hot taco seasoning or add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the beef mixture.
