  • 1 box Cake mix (vanilla or white)
  • Eggs
  • Vegetable oil
  • Water
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
Frosting & Decoration
  • 2 containers Buttercream frosting (white)
  • Gel food coloring (various colors for meadow flowers and butterflies)
  • Edible glitter (optional)
  • Pre-made fondant butterflies (various sizes and colors)
  • Green fondant or gum paste (for grass)
  • Edible sugar pearls (for flower centers)
  • Piping bags and tips (round, star, leaf)
  • Lollipop sticks or floral wire (for butterfly supports)

Method
 

  1. Prepare cake batter according to cake mix instructions. Add vanilla extract.
  2. Bake cake in a round cake pan. Let cool completely.
  3. Level the cake layers if needed.
  4. Frost the cake with a smooth layer of white buttercream frosting.
  5. Divide remaining buttercream into several bowls and tint with desired colors for meadow flowers.
  6. Using piping bags and tips, pipe various flower designs onto the sides and top of the cake to create a meadow effect.
  7. Add edible sugar pearls to the center of the flowers.
  8. Create fondant grass blades and attach to the base of the cake.
  9. Attach fondant butterflies to lollipop sticks or floral wire.
  10. Insert the butterflies into the cake, arranging them to create a fluttering effect.
  11. Optional: Sprinkle edible glitter over the meadow and butterflies for added sparkle.

Notes

For best results, chill the cake before decorating to make frosting easier.
