Method
- Prepare cake batter according to cake mix instructions. Add vanilla extract.
- Bake cake in a round cake pan. Let cool completely.
- Level the cake layers if needed.
- Frost the cake with a smooth layer of white buttercream frosting.
- Divide remaining buttercream into several bowls and tint with desired colors for meadow flowers.
- Using piping bags and tips, pipe various flower designs onto the sides and top of the cake to create a meadow effect.
- Add edible sugar pearls to the center of the flowers.
- Create fondant grass blades and attach to the base of the cake.
- Attach fondant butterflies to lollipop sticks or floral wire.
- Insert the butterflies into the cake, arranging them to create a fluttering effect.
- Optional: Sprinkle edible glitter over the meadow and butterflies for added sparkle.
Notes
For best results, chill the cake before decorating to make frosting easier.
