  • 8 oz cheddar cheese cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 large eggs beaten
  • 1 cup panko bread crumbs
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Method
 

  1. Combine flour, garlic powder, paprika, and pepper in a dish.
  2. Place beaten eggs in another dish.
  3. Place panko bread crumbs in a third dish.
  4. Dredge cheese in flour, then eggs, then panko.
  5. Heat 1 inch of oil to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Fry cheese in batches to avoid overcrowding.
  7. Fry 30-60 seconds per side, until golden brown.
  8. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  9. Serve immediately.

Notes

Make sure the oil is hot enough to get a crispy exterior without melting the cheese too quickly.
