Method
- Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Spread sausage and bread evenly in the dish.
- Sprinkle cheese over bread and sausage.
- Whisk eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and mustard (if using).
- Pour egg mixture evenly over the ingredients.
- Cover and refrigerate overnight.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Bake uncovered for 45-50 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
For a spicier casserole, use hot breakfast sausage or add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the egg mixture.
