Ingredients
  

Cake
  • 1 box white cake mix (15.25 oz)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
Coloring & Decoration
  • Blue gel food coloring
  • 1 container salted caramel frosting (12 oz)
  • Salted caramel sauce for drizzling
  • Edible silver glitter or sprinkles optional
  • White chocolate shavings optional
  • Piping bag and star tip optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8-inch round cake pan.
  2. Combine cake mix, water, oil, and eggs. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  3. Add blue gel food coloring until desired shade of blue is achieved. Mix well.
  4. Pour batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  5. Let cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. Once cool, frost with salted caramel frosting. Smooth the frosting with a spatula.
  7. Drizzle salted caramel sauce over the top of the cake.
  8. Optional: Decorate with edible silver glitter, sprinkles, white chocolate shavings, or piped frosting designs.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use buttermilk instead of water in the cake mix.
