  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 6 cups cubed bread (day-old works best)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Cook sausage until browned, then drain.
  2. Whisk eggs, milk, salt, pepper, garlic, and onion powder. Mix in sausage and bread.
  3. Fold in shredded cheese. Pour into greased baking dish.
  4. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake 15 more minutes.
  5. Let cool briefly, garnish with parsley if desired, then serve.
