Cake
  • 1 box Yellow Cake Mix and ingredients called for on the box
  • Yellow Food Coloring gel recommended
Frosting and Decoration
  • Vanilla Buttercream Frosting
  • Yellow Candy Melts
  • Heavy Cream for the drip
  • Daisy Candies or Fondant Daisies
  • Black Fondant or Edible Marker
  • Honeycomb Candy optional
  • Edible Gold Luster Dust optional

Method
 

  1. Bake the Cake: Prepare batter per box instructions. Add yellow food coloring. Bake in round pans.
  2. Cool and Level: Cool cakes completely. Level the tops with a serrated knife.
  3. Frost the Cake: Place one layer on a plate. Frost with buttercream. Repeat with layers, frosting the entire cake.
  4. Prepare the Yellow Drip: Melt candy melts with cream until smooth. Add more cream for a thinner drip.
  5. Create the Drip: Pour melted candy over the edges, allowing it to drip. Let set.
  6. Decorate with Daisies: Arrange daisies on top of the cake.
  7. Make the Bees (Optional): Roll black fondant into bee bodies. Draw stripes. Add white wings. Dust with gold luster dust. Place around the cake.
  8. Add Honeycomb (Optional): Place honeycomb candy around the base.
  9. Chill and Serve: Refrigerate for 30 minutes. Slice and serve.

Notes

For a more intense yellow color, use gel food coloring. Ensure the cake is completely cool before frosting to prevent melting.
